TORONTO - As a sizeable media contingent jockeyed for position around his locker, Terrence Ross searched for the words to describe his historic night. Alexis Sanchez Jersey . "It feels good," he settled on. Its been nearly a year since the Raptors sophomore had his coming-out party at All-Star Weekend, since the spotlight was this big, this bright. Whether he likes it or not, the attention is something he may have to get used to. Often one of the first to escape Torontos locker room, the soft-spoken 22-year-old has perfected the post-game dash like a grizzled vet. There was no avoiding it on Saturday. Ross nearly doubled his career high, previously 26, en route to a magical 51-point performance that matched Vince Carters franchise scoring record, set in February of 2000. Not only is Ross, according to Elias Sports Bureau, the first player averaging fewer than 10 points per game to ever score 50, but he also became the second-youngest to accomplish that feat. Moments after it came to an end - Toronto dropping a 126-118 shootout to the Clippers - his teammates threw a basketball into his locker. "Whats this?" he asked, as if he didnt know. It, of course, was the game ball. With the souvenir comes the heightened expectations that accompany a 50 point-game. Theres no sneaking up on anybody now. Hes raised the bar for himself. "Now hes told on himself," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said after the game. "Not that he has to get 51 every night, but hes got to have that offensive focus." A much improved defender in his second NBA season, Ross has also excelled from long range, shooting the three-ball at a 41 per cent clip. His next step, as Casey has alluded to, is to capitalize on his proficiency from downtown by putting the ball on the floor, creating his own looks around the rim and getting to the free throw line. With his full offensive arsenal on display against the Clippers, its not hard to see why Casey is enamoured by his potential. Twenty-one of his 23 first-half points came from beyond the arc, as Ross eclipsed the franchise mark for most threes in a half with seven. Coming out of the break, Doc Rivers and his team made the inevitable adjustment, closing out hard on the red-hot Ross. "They were running at him," Casey said, "[but he] did a good job reading the defence." DeMar DeRozan, who rolled his ankle on the foot of Toronto supervillain Hedo Turkoglu in the first half, left the game early in the third. Ross immediately stepped in for his mentor. Midway through the quarter, he made his presence felt with a put-back dunk in the lane. Ten seconds later, he picked off Darren Collisons pass, ran the length of the floor and finished an alley-oop. Eight of his 13 third-quarter points came in the paint and he also made nine of 10 free throw attempts on the night. His 31-foot, buzzer-beating bomb tied the game going into the fourth. From there he was on cruise control. "You dont think about it," Ross said. "You dont really realize what youre doing until its all over." Whats the mindset when one of your teammates is playing like…? "Give him the ball," Kyle Lowry said, before the question could even be completed. "Give him the ball, I dont care what hes… just give him the ball." When it was all said and done the Raptors had lost, defence being the primary culprit, but Ross had accomplished something remarkable. He was speechless, essentially, and so too were his teammates. "Unbelievable," said Lowry, succinct once again. "He did an unbelievable job. Thats it, unbelievable." A primary beneficiary of the Rudy Gay trade, Ross is averaging just under 30 minutes a night since the deal, 12 minutes more than he was getting as sub. He has earned the trust of his coach with his commitment to defence and his teammates are comfortable with him firing at will, provided theyre good shots. With DeRozan out of the lineup indefinitely Rosss role figures to expand once again. "Im probably the happiest person on the team for him to be honest," DeRozan said. "Ive been going up against T since his rookie year, pushing him, going at him day in and day out. Just seeing how high his confidence level is is definitely good to see." Now, all eyes are on Ross. What will he do for an encore? Anthony Martial Jersey . -- Arizona coach Sean Miller rose from his seat every time Roberto Nelson touched the ball and yelled "Shooter!" He could have been talking about his own team, too. David de Gea Jersey .com) - Novak Djokovic captured a mens Open Era-record fifth Australian Open title on Sunday by defeating rival Andy Murray in the final in Melbourne. http://www.jerseymanchesterunitedsoccer.com/womens-joel-castro-pereira-manchester-united-jersey/ . Chelsea took until the second half to trouble the leagues bottom team, but Schuerrle then ripped through the defence with ease at Craven Cottage to keep Jose Mourinhos side on track for the title.A busy day for Paul Maurice ended with a win as he made his debut behind the Winnipeg Jets bench. It was win number 461 of his career, in his 1085th game as an NHL coach. The win snapped the Jets five game losing streak. The Coyotes opened the scoring on a power play, with Oliver Ekman-Larsson getting his fifth of the year, but 36 seconds later Olli Jokinen with his 12th would tie the game, with Dustin Byfuglien getting the assist. Late in the first Zach Bogosian forced a turnover, with Eric ODell notching his second in as many games as the first period ended 2-1. Coach Maurice reconfigured the lines going into the game, with Devin Setoguchi joining Jokinen and Byfuglien. Michael Frolik moved to the right side with Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd, Mark Scheifele centered Blake Wheeler and Chris Thorburn, with ODell between James Wright and Anthony Peluso. Evander Kane remained out of the lineup with a hand injury, while the defence remained the same as it was Saturday. Shots in the first were 12-7 in the Jets favour. The only goal of the second period came from Wheeler, his team leading 17th of the year. Scheifele had the only assist as he continues to lead all NHL rookies in assists with 17. Shots in the second were 13-6 Jets. The Coyotes started the third period on a power play and had some chances but Ondrej Pavelec finished the second with a couple of big saves and made a few more in the third when called upon. The Jets put the game away with Frolik breaking a 10-game goalless stretch with his 10th from Adam Pardy and Little. Setoguchi scored his first in 19 games from Byfuglien and Toby Enstrom on a power play to close out the scoring. For Setoguchi it was his eighth of the year in a game that he was very good in. Pardy how has four assists in his last five games, Byfuglien has three goals and five assists in his last six games, four goals and 11 assists in his last 15 games, and is 18 points in the 24 power play goals the Jets have scored this season. Marouane Fellaini Jersey. Final shots were 38-19. The Jets directed 73 shots at the Phoenix goal, with 21 missing and another 14 blocked. Byfuglien led the way with six shots on goal, Enstrom led in ice time with 26:21, Jacob Trouba was a plus-three, while Scheifele led the Jets in face-offs winning 14 of 20 for a 70 per cent success rate. Jets went one for eight on the power play but had 15 power play shots in the game. As for the game Coach Maurice liked plenty. "The compete level and energy level of our group. They did the one thing we had talked about that when adversity came to the doorstep that next goal was huge," Maurice said after the game. "The bench didnt get quiet, we stayed positive. It was really, really important that we scored that goal to make it 1-1. They wanted to get out of this, they wanted to make it better." As for the MTS Centre crowd and the atmosphere in the building, Maurice said it was "awesome, very special for me. I tell every rookie, you get one first game in the NHL. Soak it in, enjoy it and thats what I did. It was a special moment for me in my career." Asked what he told the players after the game, Maurice added"I normally dont talk much, but I congratulated them, thanked them, and then cancelled the day off they were supposed to have." Captain Ladd got the game puck and presented it to his Coach. "The puck means a lot. I will give it to my family," Maurice said post-game. As for his new team: "Weve got some speed, weve got some skill, but we still do things at times we dont need to do. We have to get better." He also liked the play of Pavelec saying "he was square and where he needed to be. I felt safe with him." The Jets travel to Calgary for a game Thursday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290) as they are in a stretch of five straight and eight of nine against Western Conference teams.
